First gig day - Thursday, Gelsinkerkin

We are in Gelsinkerkin, in a great open-air venue, set by the canal; its hot and rainy.
A crazy day of course. A long set-up day as we have not built this show in a venue before, but it was all good and we were ready for the band
by 3pm.

They didn't arrive until 4 p.m.. A quick run through of problem numbers and then suddenly into a first night show prep.

You have a check list of things to do and quickly get it all
done, right up until the band goes on stage. I get all the lyrics ready, I get the translations in order - Peter will always try and speak in the native language. Today is the first show so this is not ready until the last minute.

Then you check all sounds are ready on the keyboards. You run through
all the stage inputs with Dee and Ben - so that we know we are all ready. I go and find some more fresh ginger to put in PG's mug for during
the show. You make sure he and Angie have a keyboard to warm up with
in the dressing room. You check your radios, then with 15 minutes to
go .. I run back to the dressing room, change into my new blue overall's...whew, no orange this time! Then get Peter's radios on him and checked, then walk ahead to the stage to do the show.

So last nights set-list .. which I'm sure will change was ..

Rhythm Of The Heat
On The Air
Intruder
D.I.Y.
I Have The Touch
Washing Of The Water
Blood Of Eden
We Do What We're Told (Milgram's 37)
I Don't Remember
No Self Control
Moribund The Burgermeister
Family Snapshot (German )
Not One Of Us (hybrid..German/English)
Mother Of Violence
I Grieve
Big Time
Steam
Lay Your Hands On Me

Signal To Noise
Solsbury Hill
Sledgehammer
In Your Eyes

All was surprisingly great for a first show, no real problems. It almost got fun for a while, but you can not relax too much as that's when things go wrong.
Anyway lots of happy faces where to be seen leaving the amphitheatre. We went to bed feeling a bit more confident that we can still pull off a PG show, even with less rehearsal time than ever before.
