Gig number two.
Everyone including PG seemed more nervous for today's show.
Because yesterday was quite smooth we didn't know quite what to expect today, so we ran through some changes to the set-list at sound check. You can expect more changes as we go in the next week or so.
'Indigo' went down very well for the first time played since its recording a few decades ago.
Mel sang even better than last night for her solo spot. PG had a few problems that needed attention but over all it was a better performance than the previous night...thinking about it, not so much better as a different feeling. Last night was more intimate tonight was more direct and it felt bigger in some ways.
Angie is really settling in and her voice is working very well with Mel's. Ged seems to be hitting his drums even harder than before, and he is really nailing the old Jerry Marotta parts. DR is coming up with sounds so deep and full now it makes me smile. Rich is dealing very well with controlling the loop playback, and Ged's click, as well as bringing a great musical support to each song - be it Marimba, Guitar, Flute or Mandolin. Tony as ever is giving a great foundation and getting some very deep bass into the PA and our ears. PG is really focusing now, I can see the shows getting faster and a lot of changes to the set-list, as he works out how to make each show a different experience to the last.
The crew are dealing very well, we are all helping each other as much as possible, as we have more gear than before, and less of us to set it and take it down. Although the music is simpler, the technology is increasing - even though we are more live now, with less playback support than even Secret World was.
Ready for a day off.
